Your comment about 2.0 vs 2.1 suggests that you may not have seen the 
textFormat attribute which might interact with this line/char length 
decision in your implementation.

The textFormat attribute also envisages situations such as responses 
that are code-snippets and should be preformatted (like HTML <pre>).

All in all, it is probably a good idea to specify both when you specify 
expectedLines.
