[QTI] How to determine question types..

Hi Clarence,

 

It depend a bit on what you're trying to determine.

QTI 2.1 doesn't have something that defines/describes the question type
in the sense that it says "this is a multiple choice item" or "this is a
hotspot item".

The reason for that is that it would have been impossible to come up
with definitive list of definitions for all the different possible
combinations of interactions (and scoring mechanisms?) that everybody
would be able to agree upon. Not in the least because you can create
items that contain a mix of multiple interactions or interaction types.

But, yes, looking at the interaction types in an item tells you a lot
about the type of item it is. And you could for example within your
organization agree upon a set of combinations of interaction types to
limit the number of different items that you create.

Am I looking at this right in that the <imsqti:interactionType> tag
tells me what type of question an xml document is?
