In January of 2007, Dr. Toni Cleveland became President and CEO of HERDI (Higher Education Research and Development Institute). She was a Teacher, Director of Continuing Education/Workforce Development, College Dean and Community College President in New York before coming to Richmond as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Services for the Virginia Community College System. Always active in leadership activities and community affairs, she has chaired city and county planning boards in central New York and was awarded the Community Leader Award by the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce in 2001, YWCA Outstanding Woman of the Year in Education Award in 1998, and Educator of the Year Award in 2001 by the Western NY Junior Achievement. She was named President of the American Lung Association of New York State in 2001 and served until her move to Virginia in 2002. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Country Club and is co-chair of the Eagle Classic Symetra Tour professional women’s golf tournament, “Road to the LPGA”.
